BBHC Mixed 4-1 Beavers
Bradley [FG]
BBHC looked to continue their form from previous weeks in what looked to be an even game.
In torrential weather, BBHC started off the brighter team. Some quick passing through midfield saw Dean Wheeler and Iain "Mungo" Brine link up well to allow Ben Bradley to score. The Club's Banker rifled his shot past the keeper from the top of the D.
The lead was short-lived, though, as Beavers replied soon after with some swift passing through the BB defence. Five minutes later, they took the lead after a dubious loss of the ball in midfield. However, BBHC kept their heads up and the good attacking play continued, with a pair of short corners both narrowly saved from Sam and Karen Hall.
Come the second half, BBHC seemed to lose their way. Although they managed to string some good passing movements together, they were unable to penetrate the Beavers' area. The opposition gained more and more control and soon began to find gaps in the defence despite valiant defending from Chrissy Brookes and Alison Prior.
As the game went on, Beavers proceeded to score another 3 goals, while BBHC mustered few attacking thrusts. The best opportunity of the period fell to Vicky Jones, who had her effort well saved by the keeper.
Despite the result, BBHC can be pleased with parts of their performance and need to build on this in next week’s game against the sexy hockey of fellow BBHC team, Cheeky Monkeys.

BBHC Mixed 1-3 Muppets
Bradley [FG]
In BBHC's toughest game to date, the home side went down to a strong Muppets team.
For the first ten minutes, BBHC were under constant pressure but Muppets were unable to penetrate into the D. As they committed more players forward this led to opportunities at the other end. However, the BBHC defence were nearly caught out when the Muppet Steve Quincy missed a one on one.
The first half continued with the same pattern, where Muppets enjoyed much of the possession yet creating few chances. The best one fell to Quincey who was denied in another one on one. Muppets did not have it all their way in, with BBHC creating several good pieces of play and several goal scoring opportunities.
At half time the score: 0-0.
A pleased BBHC started the second half with renewed enthusiasm and controlled large parts of the game, resulting in several short corners. Two well-worked short corners both resulted in good shots from Sam Hall, but were well saved by the keeper. Muppets, however, soon took the lead from a short corner of their own, which was powered in from close range.
Five minutes later, Muppets doubled their lead as the BB defence was caught out when a 2 on 1 led to a well-taken goal.
BBHC kept strong and were soon back in it though via a fantastic solo goal from Ben Bradley, after some quick passing in the midfield from Jeanette Grabham and Simon Myers.
The game was closely contested for the remainder, with BBHC looking the more likely to score. However, Muppets had the last word as Mark Ashby finally escaped Alex Webster's pocket to latch onto a long ball and slip it past Sarah Brine in goal.
BBHC can be proud of the performance though against a very strong side and look to carry it on next week.

BBHC Mixed 4-1 Renegades
K Hall [FG], S Hall [PC], P Harvey [FG], Wheeler [FG]
After last week's “blip,” BBHC put in a solid display and gained an easy win against Renegades.
BBHC dominated the game for large spells, with strong performances from all.
From the start BBHC, were on the attack but the final touch was lacking as they squandered chances. The best coming from Dean Wheeler who could not finish into the open net, after rounding the keeper. Thankfully, BBHC's continuous pressure soon wielded results. A well worked goal came from Karen Hall after a good passing movement around the D. Two minutes the later, BBHC's lead was doubled after Ben Bradley and Dean Wheeler sliced through the defence with some slick passing, for Deano to finish it with a simple tap-in. At half time BBHC went in happy.
The second half continued in much the same way, however, Renegades started to carve out some chances. Some good defending from Simon Myers, and Iain "Mungo" Brine prevented them coming back into the game.
BBHC grabbed another goal when a short corner ended up on the top of the D with Sam Hall, who blasted it past the keeper.
This kicked Renegades into action and they soon began to create more chances. However, some strong defending from Ali Hall and good keeping from Sarah Brine kept them at bay.
BBHC broke from one of Renegades' more frequent attacks to score another goal. Some quick passing between Simon Myers and Paul Harvey saw the opposition keeper taken out of the equation for a simple finish for Harvey.
Renegades got a late consolation goal from a short corner, but BBHC can be pleased with a strong performance before next week's challenge against fellow-BBHC side, Muppets.

BBHC Mixed 1-3 Ramblers
P Harvey [FG]
BBHC were unable to recreate the form of the previous week and went down to a strong Ramblers side.
Ramblers had the majority of possession and kept BBHC pinned in their own half for large portions of the game. BBHC were not regular visitors in the oppositions D but on there infrequent attacks testing the keeper. The B's were 2–0 down by half time but after some skilful play from the opposition, with little chance for Jordan Laws to save.
In the 2nd half, BBHC dug in and their performance improved. As BBHC started
to push forward, Ramblers found more room at the back and created chances.
Without the heroics of Jordan Laws BBHC could have easily been punished. Ramblers
were 3-0 up before BBHC could grab a consolation goal from Paul Harvey.

BBHC Mixed 3-2 Sprogs
After two narrow defeats in the past few weeks BBHC got back to winning ways with a convincing 3-2 win over Sprogs.
The “home team” started off confidently with silky passing throughout the team and immediately put the opposition under pressure. Despite large spells of possession BBHC had difficulty penetrating the D but still managed to create several opportunities with both Karen Hall and Phil Price having chanced denied.
Confusion during substitutions led to Iain “Mungo” Brine playing upfront??? However, after just two minutes he put BBHC into the lead for the first time this season with a run round the back and beating the keeper on the 2nd attempt.
BBHC continued with there fantastic passing play but were caught several times on the counter with Sprogs squandering a couple of golden opportunities. However, due to a mix up in defence (well allowing Alex Webster to touch the ball) Sprogs levelled after a poor short corner was deflected passed Sarah Brine in goal.
BBHC went in at half time although level very much in the driving seat.
The second half started very much as the 1st finished with BBHC controlling large parts of the game.
Soon into the second half Sprogs started to string some fluid passing together and found several openings in the BBHC defence and without the strong defending of Ali Hall and Ben Bradley BBHC could easily have gone behind.
Attacking on the counter, with some quick passing from Jeanette in the midfield, Phil Price managed to score after a scramble in the oppositions D.
Five minutes later after some sublime teamwork between Karen and Sam Hall, Karen managed to extend the lead to 3 -1 after slipping the ball past the keeper.
BBHC spent the remainder of the match soaking up pressure from Sprogs culminating in a frantic end after Sprogs had pulled one back with an exocet of a shot form the top of the D leaving Sarah Brine in goal with no chance.
BBHC can be very proud of a good performance from all which resulted in a well deserved victory.

BBHC Mixed 0-2 Collection
BBHC played this week the past winners in a strongly contested match. With a weaker team (in theory anyway) than the previous week BBHC produced an exceptional performance against a strong opposition. The first ten minutes of the game saw Collection with much of the possession but a well structured defence managed to keep them at bay. However, the constant pressure from Collection soon started to pay off as the opposition had several chances narrowly being put wide. Collections inability to score led to tempers fraying and BBHC took this advantage of this spell to counter attack leading to several clear cut attempts on goal, the best falling to Phil Price who having beaten his marker on the edge of the D had a superb undercut put around the post by the keeper.
As BBHC grew evermore adventurous they were soon caught short at the back as Collection won a pee flick after attacker was fouled in the process of a one on one. The resulting flick was missed.
The second half started as the first finished with BBHC soaking up the pressure and attacking on the counter. With some good passing movement through the central midfield consisting of Deano Wheeler and Iain “Mungo” Brine BBHC continued to create chances. As the game continued the likelihood of Collection scoring increased as they found more and more room at the back,
They can consider themselves lucky to be awarded the first goal after a lifted cross cruelly deflected off a defender into the goal. BBHC could have quite easily conceded another 3 in the last 15 minutes if it had not been for the heroic keeping of Sarah Brine and some valiant defending from Ravi, Alison Hall and Chrissy Brookes. As BBHC searched for an equaliser they again conceded from a deflection (an attacker this time) to go 2- 0 down. Collection continued to carve out chances but valiant defending from all meant BBHC finished only 2 -0 down after a great performance form all.

[Wednesday 18th May]
Men's 6th XI 6-0 New Beccehamians Development XI (A)
(S Bennett [FG], A Humber 2 [2 FG], D Humber 2 [2 FG], S Mason [FG])
This was BBHC Mixed XI's first game in the Priory summer league and the first since the end of the season. Against one of the stronger sides in the league BBHC faired well, with the play mainly kept to the midfield. However, Aces had several clear cut opportunities and went into half time 1-0 after a flick from the top of the D managed to beat Sarah Brine on the far post. BBHC can consider themselves unlucky though having an appeal for pee flick cruelly rejected after a blatant foot preventing the one and only goal scoring opportunity of the half.
After a tactical team talk from the "experienced" Paul Harvey, BHHC went out again with renewed confidence.
For spells BBHC had crisp passing throughout the team and managed to carve out several opportunities the best falling to Phil Price who managed to commit the keeper and lob him, unfortunately the power was lacking and the ball failed to reach the goal. D'oh!
However, the lack of match fitness really started to show towards the end of the game as Aces took control and through some tired defending managed to snatch two extra goals in the last five minutes.
BBHC can be pleased with there first performance and can look forward to building upon it in the next game against Collection. With strong performances from Ben Bradley, Karen Hall, Lou Fearn and Phil Price.
BBHCs game was followed by Cheeky Monkeys vs Sprogs. Cheeky Monkeys lost for the second week running 3 - 1 with "Ex- national league superstar" Kev King and Ex- BBHC 1st team captain" Dan Lucas" both missing penalty flicks.
Meanwhile, the Men's 6th XI played a young New Becc's side at the HSBC gorund and romped to a 6-0 victory. Youngsters Scott Bennett, Joe Brown, Sam Cuthbert, Dave "Dazie" Humber, Lee Humber, Jordan Laws, Stephen Mason and Mark Pellat played the full match, with older heads Simon Brown, Andy Humber and Andrei Mendis weighing in with their experience. BBHC took advantage of the stand-in home goalkeeping to make no mistake, with braces each from Andy and Dazie Humber, plus a goal each from Scott Bennett and Stephen Mason.
