Men's 1st and 5th XI's sign off with wins
The final round of league matches for almost all of the BBHC teams
saw the Men's 1st XI come from behind to beat Hampshire-based Trojans
5-4 at Erith School. There was also a useful win for the Men's
5's.

Men's 2nd XI win Kent/Sussex Open Division 1
Despite last week's stutter, the Men's 2nd XI won Kent/Sussex
Open Division 1 with an emphatic 11-1 home win against Horsham
- big thanks go to the visitors for sportingly congratulating
the 2's at the end of the match. Next season sees them promoted
to South
Open Kent/Sussex - Regional, with tasty contests against
Burnt Ash 2nd XI, Maidstone 2nd XI and Sevenoaks 3rd XI to look
forward to.
There were also wins for the Men's 4th XI, Ladies 2nd XI, and
U16 Boys. Good stuff!
Unfortunately, a 9-2 loss to Epsom seals automatic relegation
for the Men's 1st XI from the tough South Premier Division 2.
Meanwhile, with 2 matches to go, the Men's 3rd XI look likely
to remain rooted to the bottom of Kent Open Premier A.

Kent Hockey Playing Membership Survey
Over the past few years Clubs in Kent have merged and strengthened
or lost membership and folded. The question is what has motivated people
to move clubs, stay loyal or move to the County and choose their?
Richard
Young is carrying out some research on this for the dissertation for
his Master's degree, As well as analysing the results, he hopes to
share this information with Kent hockey and the England
Hockey South
Regional
office so please
take
3 minutes
to
answer
the 20 questions
and feedback section in his survey . He has obtained a discount
at Cotswold
Outdoor (branches Orpington,
Maidstone
or
Tunbridge Wells) for anyone who completes the survey . The 10% code
is at the end!
Once this is done he will be interviewing club management across the
county and some players - this could even be you if you are willing!
If
you do come across the survey elsewhere please don't do it again but
do alert other players I don't know to take part!

3rd XI's give the only glimmers
You know it's a bad weekend when the mighty 2nd XI lose! Yep, needing
2 points to secure promotion, they lost 5-4 away to Herne Bay to
keep their title race going until the last match. Perhaps a match
report will be forthcoming to indulge us with the details... (or maybe
they'll follow the consistent lead of our Ladies' reporters...?).
Nevertheless, at least the Vets won a couple of matches at the
Burnt Ash tournament. And both our 3rd XI's drew with.the tough
Sevenoaks 4th XI's, the Men coming back from 3-1 down thanks to goals
from their 3 Andy's - Franklin, Galbraith and Humber. Good work

Men's 2's two much for 'Saxons
More losses this weekend, but the Men's 2's roll on. A 2-0 win against
a tough South Saxons team puts them 2 points from the title and promotion.
The 1st XI were missing several players but came away with a respectable
4-2 loss away to Banbury. And the Men's 3rd XI seem rooted to the bottom
of Kent Open Premier A - despite a better
spirit and general performance, some defensive mistakes and failure to
convert scoring chances saw them lose 4-1 away to Marden.

1st XI's lose tight matches
Both Men's and Ladies' 1st XI's lost tight matches on Saturday but the
reliable Men's 2nd XI thumped Sutton Valence 5-1 despite the inexplicably
late 4pm start (the pitch was empty for the slot before) at their
away match. 3 vital points went to the Men's 3rd XI because Deal
could not field a team, and
the Men's 4th XI mounted
a late comeback from 5-1 down to lose 5-4 at Anchorians. The Ladies'
3's did the double over Gravesend thanks to a 1-0 away win

Green is good!
A considerable amount more green on the results board than in recent
weeks! No games fro the Ladies or the Colts, but the Men's 1's
won 3-2 away at Winchester - a fantastic win for them that keeps
the relegation battle nice and open! No need to tell you that the
2's won, but the 3's produced a great team performance but failed
to score and relieve the pressure that saw them caught on the break.
Eheu! ("Alas" or "Oh dear" in latin)..

Ladies' 1's win 3-1
The Ladies' 1's chalked up a vital win against Hertford in the tight fight against relegation (the East League's website appears to be broken this week) thanks to a stellar performance by Sorcha Crowley. The Men's 1st XI came from behind to draw 2-2 with fellow relegation-candidates Eastcote, but lost 3-0 to Devizes (from the West League) in the 4th round of the Harrod UK Men's Trophy. In other news, some reckless driving by a Spanish lorry driver disrupted the Men 's 3rd XI trip to Holcombe on Saturday afternoon.
On a brighter note, the Men's 2's continued their winning ways. There
were also wins for the Men's 4th XI (against some familiar faces
on the HSBC 2nd XI team) and the Ladies 3rd XI. Good stuff!

Men's 1's hit Portsmouth for 6
The Men's 1st XI hosted the young, bottom-of-the-table City of Portsmouth side in a 6-pointer of a match. A Phil Price hattrick was the pick of the action as the B's won 6-1. The 2nd's won 4-0 away to Folkestone to stay on top of their division. The Ladies' 1st XI led 2-0 at Harpenden before taking a share of the points, while the Ladies 2's won their first league match of the season - 3-2 vs Old Williamsonians 1st XI! Well done girls!
On Sunday, the U16 Boys drew 3-3 with Tunbridge Wells in a very entertaining
match.

Men's 2's march on
The Men's 1st XI travelled to West Hampstead but the 2-6 scoreline only
reflected the risks the lads were punished for as they chased the
game in the closing changes. The Ladies' 1st XI went down 3-0 to
BromBecks. However, the Men's consolidated their lead in South Open Kent/Sussex
Division 1 with a 3-0 win at home to Holcombe 3As.

Men's 2's still top
Another less-than-adequeate weekend saw just the one win for BBHC (by the
U14 Boys), with even the mighty Men's 2nd XI held to a 1-1 draw
away to Brighton & Hove.

Happy New Year!
Welcome, welcome to 2008! Here at BBHC Towers we trust you have not overindulged during the festive period, nor rung in the New Year with a series of inexplicable minor injuries at a costume party (you know who you are!).
Clearly we're all suitably refreshed and in fine fettle to reinvigorate this club with some outstanding hockey, and make up for a disappointing first half!
Remember, training starts again this week, with Colts on Sunday 6th, Men's 1st/2nd XI on Tuesday 8th, Ladies' on Tuesday 8th, and Club training on Wednesday 9th.
Please note that we now have a regular coach taking Wednesday night training. We would like to stress that if the number of people attending does not improve then we will have to stop these sessions - the cost of hiring pitches is high and if we do not make the most of the use of the pitch, we will be wasting the club's and your money.
U16 Boys run BromBecks close
The U16 Boys team were 3-0 down after 10 mintues at home to Bromley & Beckenham on Sunday but came close to cnatching a draw. The visitors held on to win 3-2. Only the Men's 4th XI managed a win, with the Men's 1st XI losing a crucial 6-pointer away at Trojans.
Wildebeest Cup - Youngsters wanted!

Men's 2nd XI top for Christmas
The Men's 2nd XI gained another win away to keep them top of South Open Kent/Sussex Div 1 for Christmas, with Mark "Slimline" Ashby grabbing 4. Both 1st XIs weren't feeling the festive spirit with a loss apiece, again! The Men were unlucky to be pipped in the closing stages after coming back from 2-0 down in the 1st half.
Congratulations to the Ladies' 2nd XI as they beat Herne Bay 1st XI to record their first league win this Saturday. Great stuff, girls!
Ladies' 1st XI beat Canterbury
The Ladies' 1st XI gave themselves a real boost this weekend thanks to a 1-0 win against Canterbury 2A's, lifting them out of the relegation zone.
Meanwhile, the Men's 1st XI travelled to Rover Oxford to throw away a 2 goal lead to lose 3-2, but the 2's returned to winning ways thanks to a 1-0 win at home to Herne Bay.
Bad weekend for BBHC
The Men's 1st XI faced table-topping Banbury on Saturday. A strong start could not be capitallised on and some harsh lessons (plus a cameo by a Drogba devotee) were led to a 5-1 loss. However, the lads trounced Bury St Edmunds 7-1 on Sunday to make it the 4th round of the Harrod UK Men's Trophy. The 2's suffered their first loss of the season but the 3's finally grabbed a point after a miserable run.
The Ladies' 1st XI went down 3-1 away to Broxbourne and the 2's lost 5-0 against Sevenoaks.
The U14 Boys won 3-2 at home to Herne Bay.
Men's 2nd XI march on while Ladies' and Men's 1st XI lose again
A marginally better weekend than the prevous one, with losses for both the Men's and Ladies' 1st XIs (against "South London's friendliest hockey club" and Waltham Forest, respectively). However, the Men's 2nd XI won again, and the Ladies 3rd XI trounced Gravesend 7-0 while the the U16 Girls beat Tunbridge Wells 3-0.
**BBHC Football Buster** comes to an end in Week 11 and Justin Clarke is the winner!
Congratulations to Justin Clarke for winning the inaugural BBHC Football Buster competition! Jayne Rickards was still in contention until Kevin Nolan scored his last minute equaliser against West Ham on Saturday! Commiserations.
The competition has raised £155 for the club - many thanks to Mike Leigh for organising this! It may return after Christmas.
Ladies' 1st XI nearly beat table-toppers, Men's 1's shut out by Winchester
A pretty bad weekend of results for BBHC, I'm afraid to say. 2 wins, 1 draw and 8 lossess over the two days! Only the prevalent Men's 2nd XI and the young Men's 6th XI grabbed wins! Let's not mention the 3rd XI and U16 Boys' results, eh...?
However, the Ladies' 1st XI can be proud with their efforts, losing 3-2 after being 2-1 up against table-toppers Gillingham Anchorians. Some great hockey going on there.
Men's 1st XI suffer after traffic problems but win on Sunday, Ladies 1st XI pip Maidstone
The Men's 1st XI had a torrid time on Saturday after geeting caught in the traffic created by the gentleman trying to run across the M25 at Dartford on Saturday morning! 9 men arrived in West London to take the field in time to play much of the first half against Eastcote. But the full team left themselves exposed whilst trying to overturn the initial 3-1 deficit. They made up for this on Sunday with a 5-0 win at home to Slough in their 2nd round Harrod UK Men's Trophy match.
Meanwhile, the Ladies' 1st XI came out winners in another tight game with a 1-0 result against Maidstone 2nd XI.
Men's 1st XI win in Portsmouth, 2nd XI hit Folkestone for 7
The Men's 1st XI headed down to the South coast and beat the young City of Portsmouth 1st XI 4-3. The 2nd XI had seven different scorers as beat Folkestone 7-1. Match reports for those two fixtures plus the Men's 3rd and 5th XIs are available. The Ladies 1st XI threw a 2 goal lead away to draw 2-2 away to Herford. The 2's and 3's had no fixture.
Ladies' 1st XI grab first win, plus news of a two-Prong'd attack
The Ladies' 1st XI chalked up their first win of the season with a late winner at home to league-leaders Harpenden. Unfortunately, the Men's 1st XI lost 5-3 to leaders West Hampstead, and the 3rd XI let a 5-3 lead slip and choked in the face of a late Sevenoaks Shadows onslaught to draw 5-5.
Men's 1's chalk up 1st win, Ladies' 1's pipped again
The Men's 1st XI made the first of their away trips to the other side of the region since promotion to the South Premier League Division 2. The lads returned 3-2 winners with vital points in this tough division. Unfortunately, the Ladies' 1st XI continued to play their best hockey for 3 years but were pipped by one goal for the 3rd week in a row. They're bound to turn the corner soon.

Annual General Meeting 2006/07: 18th April
Needing only a point, a 4-1 win away to Worthing sealed the championship for the BBHC's Men's 1st XI on Saturday on the last day of the season, finishing ahead of Ashford and Eastbourne. It was good iming since the club dinner was held int he evening. The Men's 2's looked to have missed out on promotion despite a 5-2 win against Holcombe 3As. They , finished behind Sevenoaks by one goal with Canterbury 4A's unlikely to slip up against Sutton Valence. The Men's 3's ended the season strongly with a 6-1 win away to Gravesham but missed out on the singular promotion spot to Ashford.
