Colts - Stix Skills Awards

The Stix Skills Awards are a fun way of finding out just how good your hockey skills are. The Awards are for anyone under 14 years old and there are four levels: Cub, Bronze, Silver and Gold.

Participants complete six skills tests, gaining points for things like scoring goals, dribbling around cones and lifting the ball over a stick. Points for all the tests are added up giving you a final score – all participants receive a certificate and badge for the level achieved.

If you would like to take part in the Stix Skills Awards, ask your coach.

Who are STIX SKILLS for?
The STIX SKILLS resource pack is developed specifically for young players - in schools, for those in Years 7, 8 and 9 and in clubs - for those aged between 11 and 14 years. It is the first stage of a three-tier player development programme. It is fun, skilful and full of challenge.

What does it involve?
The young players are invited to attempt six skill challenges - all of them against the clock. They are awarded points based on their speed and skill performance. When the results for each of the 6 skill tests are totted up, the young player achieves one of four possible Awards. The Awards are Gold, Silver, Bronze or STIX Cub. Gold is the highest level Award.
